Why Exfoliate This Summer.

Whether you love the scent of fruit, nuts or sweet sugar, there is an exfoliating body scrub for you.
We all know they exist, but many of us don't take the time to use them. I could go on about why it's good for your skin, but let's start with a little known fact that might make exfoliating a no-brainer.

90% of the dust in your home is dead skin cells. And no, I didn't make a typo. So, now that you're a tad bit unsettled, let's talk about why it's good for your skin. We all want smooth soft skin, especially in the summer when we reveal more skin. Your body is covered in a layer of dead skin cells. The lotion that you put on your skin has to work its way through layers of dead skin cells just to reach the top layer. No matter how much body lotion you put on the dead skin cells, they still remain dead skin cells. If you want healthy smooth skin, you must slough them off. No better way that in the shower or bath with a body exfoliator.

Using a bath lily or bath gloves with a shower gel can give you a slight daily exfoliation, but your best bet is to use an actual body exfoliator like Senorita Margarita: Hot Salt Scrub once or twice a week. Gently rub it all over your body in a circular motion and rinse off. Make sure you moisturize immediately after you dry off. You'll instantly see the difference in your skin. It will appear younger and feel much softer.

Once you start using exfoliators, your only problem will be in picking one. Seeing you'll be buying less dusting polish, you might as well splurge on a couple.

Dry, Flaky and Sensitive Skin?

My client recently complained of very dry, flaky and sensitive skin on her face. I knew the skincare she was using- and thought this cannot be the problem. I asked her how long she had used her foundation- which was a long time  And recommended a mineral based makeup called Jayne Iredale..

On her next visit she was delighted that her skin was back to normal, and how little of this makeup she needed to use, to give her skin great coverage and a flawless natural look.

If you are having problems with your skin-maybe you need a change of skin care or makeup foundation.

Try to choose natural based products avoiding chemicals, parabens and highly scented products.

Facts about Skin Aging.

Our skin loses its moisture and elasticity as we age, resulting in wrinkles, saggy skin and liver or age spots. Elastin and Collagen are two main proteins of connective tissues that allow many tissues in the body to resume their shape after stretching or contracting but the levels of Collagen and Elastin decrease with our age which makes our skin weak, thin and loose. So what causes skin damage? Free Radicals are the culprit behind the aging process. One free radical can lead to a chain of free radicals that damage our skin and this process is called Oxidation. Slowly it will start damaging our skin cells by taking the moisture away, leaving our skin feeling dry, de-hydrated, itchy that ultimately results in Wrinkles. Apart from Wrinkles, Crow’s feet and Uneven Skin Tone it will also make our skin saggy and baggy. And here comes our rescuer, Antioxidant. Antioxidants are nutrients in our foods which can prevent or slow the oxidative damage to our body. They fight free radicals and prevent and repair damage done by these free radicals.
