Different
types of pedicure
Pedicures vary between each salon
and spa. Usually, the difference between them is the type of products used and
the treatment procedure. You can usually tell what you're in for from a salon
description of the treatment.
Express pedicure
This treatment is suitable for
feet that are in good condition and persons with limited time. The feet are
soaked, scrubbed the toe nails are cut filed and cuticles pushed back. Complete
with choice of favorite nail colour
Standard Pedicure
As above but with hard skin
removal and foot massage.
Intensive
paraffin wax: this
pedicure includes warm wax wrapped into the fee and toe nails. This treatment is an intensive moisturizing treatment
and leaves the skin very soft and hydrated. Excellent during the winter months
as it also helps soothe arthritic aches and pains. Ideally polish should be
left off to allow the benefits of the products to penetrate into the toe nails
and cuticles.
Gel
pedicure: this treatment uses a gel
colour that is set with a UV light for a long-lasting glossy finish. This
treatment does not usually use the foot spa as the toe nails need to be kept
dry as possible to allow bonding of the gel products. The feet are cleaned, toe
nails prepared and filed a foot file is used for hard skin removal and foot
cream massaged into the feet after the gel has been applied.
Luxury
pedicure: this whole-foot treatment
usually includes massage, softening paraffin wax or mask with heated towels or heated
booties. If you have lots of hard skin or enjoy and your feet and lower legs
massaged this treatment is bliss.
Hot
tip!
Your choice of footwear is
crucial when you go for a pedicure. Salon -standard nail polish may take a few hours
to dry completely. You don't want to have to push those high-gloss finishes
into socks and trainers for your cycle home. Whatever you arrive in, make sure
that you have flip-flops or open sandals to wear when you leave (unless you're
having a pedicure that involves gel polish, which is cured under UV light and
dries instantly).
